A star is born
Born in Libreville, Anthony Obame start Taekwondo in 1995 when he is 6, his father enrols in a club of the Gabonese Air Army. After practicing this martial art, Obame decides to stop and then make finally his come back 8 years later in 2003 in Louis Big MAN, Club where he’s studied in the high school. Sudden, Anthony Obame commonly called “Anthox” becomes well known in the Gabonese’s capital with a reputation of a serial killer and wins all his fights. After having his baccalauréat and being qualified for entry to the university, he’s leaving to France, in Toulouse where is host by the Centre of the Resources, of the Expertise, of the performance Sport and of the Sport (CREPS). Today, member of the National Institute of the Sport of the Expertise and of the Performance (INSEP) since two years now, Anthony is studying Management of the sport. 

Facing this new environment, Anthony Obame has to try to be adapted as soon he can. But however, this situation did not stop him to have good results, he finishes third of the world French speaking tournament host in Benin, third of the African tournament in Tripoli. The next year, for his first world tournaments, he’s eliminated to the last sixteen and finishes second of the African Games in Maputo. But it’s in the beginning of this year, in January that Anthony Obame reveals to the public, and becomes African champion of Taekwondo in Cairo in notably beating the Malian Daba Modibo Keita (Double world champion 2007 & 2009). This title gives him the opportunity to have his ticket for the London Olympic Games. In May he added to his honours list a status of a World Vice – Champion of the university. In being underestimated, Anthony Obame has been a true surprise of this competition where people were not expecting him in this level.
